Staff Week Sea Heritages in the Algarve
Purpose
Staff Week „Sea Heritages in the Algarve” is an initiative enabling employees of universities belonging to the SEA-EU alliance to learn about the cultural heritage of this part of Portugal, whose history and identity are inextricably linked to the sea and the civilizations of the Mediterranean basin. The course aims to exchange knowledge, discuss and build partnership cooperation through joint learning about the local maritime heritage, participation in thematic panels and visits to cultural institutions and historical sites of the region.
Form and duration of the initiative
International mobility will be carried out at the SEA-EU partner university, the University of Algavre (Portugal) from 28-30 October 2025.

Set of learning outcomes (competences):
- The participant knows the most important elements of the maritime heritage of the Algarve region and their cultural and historical significance.
- The participant understands the role of the sea in shaping local and national identity in Mediterranean countries;
- The participant has knowledge of the strategy for the protection and promotion of maritime heritage from a European and local perspective.

1.1 the participant knows the most important elements of the maritime heritage of the Algarve region and their cultural and historical significance;
1.2 the participant understands the role of the sea in shaping local and national identity in Mediterranean countries;

2.1 the participant is able to compare the maritime heritage of different SEA-EU countries and point out common elements and differences
2.2 the participant is able to identify and describe selected examples of maritime heritage from the Algarve region
2.3 the participant is able to lead a discussion and present conclusions in an international interdisciplinary team

3.1 The participant shows an attitude of openness to intercultural dialogue and respect for the diverse traditions associated with the sea
3.2 the participant is involved in activities aimed at the protection and promotion of cultural heritage in his/her academic and social environment;
3.3 The participant acts in accordance with the principles of international cooperation and responsibility for the common European heritage.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INITIATIVE
Mobility participants
A person with the current status of an employee who is not an academic teacher and who is an academic teacher at the University of Gdańsk on the date of joining the recruitment process and the planned mobility may apply for recruitment for foreign mobility. Persons joining the recruitment process cannot apply for or carry out foreign mobility while on any leave. The declared level of English of the participant is at least B1.
Recruitment
Each person joining the recruitment process is required to fill in a special https://forms.office.com/e/uXp5R3T0t6 registration form https://forms.office.com/e/uXp5R3T0t6 by July 22, 2025. One of the elements of the form is a cover letter justifying the choice of mobility, which should serve to improve the person’s competences in the field of professional development.
The order in which the funding is awarded depends on the total number of points obtained – applications with a higher total number of points have priority in awarding funding and will be implemented according to the ranking list.
Persons who have submitted a set of required documents and met the requirements for mobility may be qualified for mobility. Funds for this purpose are provided for 3 people.

Recruitment results
The committee verifying and evaluating applications is obliged to prepare a ranking list divided into a list of qualified, reserve and non-qualified persons. All persons taking part in the recruitment process will be individually informed about its results by e-mail by 24.07.2025 The list of winners will also be available on the website
RULES FOR PROVIDING SUPPORT
Participation in the mobility for qualified employees of the University of Gdańsk who meet the criteria is free of charge.
Funding
Financial support may be granted for the implementation of mobility from 28 to 30 October 2025, with the possibility of including two additional days for travel. These funds should be used to cover the costs of travel, accommodation and allowances. A detailed list of applicable rates can be found on the website. The payment is made in the form of a lump sum in the amount of:
- for an employee who is not an academic teacher PLN 5625
- for an employee who is an academic teacher PLN 6250
Pre-mobility documentation
Persons who will be qualified for mobility are required to complete:
- electronic pre-test, in which the participant independently assesses the level of his skills before the course,
- request for a business trip on the employee portal,
- registration on the NAWA platform confirming the eligibility of the project participant,
- registration form of the organising authority.
Post-mobility documentation
Persons who end their mobility are obliged to:
- completing an electronic post-test, in which the participant independently assesses the level of their skills after the course,
- present the original certificate of residence at the partner university,
- settlement of business trips in the Science Office.
Completing the mobility
Those who complete the mobility will receive a certificate of completion of the course.
The verification of learning outcomes involves completing a post-test, in which the participant should obtain a higher number of points compared to the pretest in order to obtain a certificate of competence improvement. Both tests are solved remotely via the Microsoft Forms application.
