Purpose  

The aim of the course „Crafting Qualitative Research in Management & Accounting” is to develop the competences of academic staff in the field of qualitative research in the area of management and accounting. The program combines lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and hands-on activities, allowing participants to deepen their knowledge of research methods and approaches and apply them in academic practice. The course is also conducive to building international scientific cooperation within the SEA-EU network and initiating joint research projects. 

Form and duration of the initiative 

International mobility will be carried out at the SEA-EU partner university, the University of Naples from 04 – 06 November 2025.

Set of learning outcomes (competences):

  1. The participant knows the methods and approaches of qualitative research used in management and accounting and understands their practical application.
  2. The participant is able to design and conduct a qualitative study as well as present and justify its results in the scientific community.
  3. The participant cooperates in an international research environment, adhering to the principles of ethics and sharing experience.

Learning outcomes:

  • Knowledge:
    1.1 the participant knows the basic and advanced methods of qualitative research used in management and accounting;
    1.2 the participant understands the differences between different theoretical and methodological approaches in qualitative research;
    1.3 the participant has knowledge of current trends and challenges in the implementation of qualitative research in an international environment;
  • Skills:
    2.1. the participant is able to design qualitative research, taking into account the selection of methods, tools and appropriate data analysis strategies;
    2.2. the participant is able to critically analyze and interpret the results of qualitative research in the context of management and accounting issues;
    2.3. the participant is able to present and argue his/her own research results in a scientific forum, including in an international environment;
  • Social competences:
    3.1. the participant is ready to cooperate in research in international research teams;
    3.2. the participant is open to the exchange of experiences and good practices with representatives of various academic communities;
    3.3. The participant complies with the principles of research ethics and responsibility for the quality of the research conducted.

Mobility participants 

A person with the current status of an employee who is an academic teacher at the University of Gdańsk on the day of joining the recruitment process and the planned mobility may apply for recruitment for foreign mobility. Persons joining the recruitment process cannot apply for or carry out foreign mobility while on any leave. The declared level of English of the participant is at least B1.  

Recruitment 

Each person joining the recruitment process is required to fill in a special form registering https://forms.office.com/e/zQHc3qSii5 https://forms.office.com/e/zQHc3qSii5  by July 17, 2025. One of the elements of the form is a cover letter justifying the choice of mobility, which should serve to improve the person’s competences in the field of professional development. 

The order in which the funding is awarded depends on the total number of points obtained – applications with a higher total number of points have priority in awarding funding and will be implemented according to the ranking list. 

Persons who have submitted a set of required documents and met the requirements for mobility may be qualified for mobility.

Recruitment results 

The committee verifying and evaluating applications is obliged to prepare a ranking list divided into a list of qualified, reserve and non-qualified persons. All persons taking part in the recruitment process will be individually informed about its results by e-mail by 21.07.2025 The list of winners will also be available on the https://sea-eu.ug.edu.pl/aktualnosci/ websitehttps://sea-eu.ug.edu.pl/aktualnosci/.  

Participation in the course/mobility for qualified employees of the University of Gdańsk who meet the criteria is free of charge. 

Funding 

Funding can be awarded for the implementation of mobility in the period from 04 to 06 November 2025 plus two days for travel. The subsidy is paid in the form of a lump sum of  PLN 5250. The subsidy must cover the costs of travel, accommodation and allowances. A detailed list of co-financing rates can be found on the website. 

Pre-mobility documentation 

Persons who will be qualified for mobility are required to complete: 

  • electronic pre-test, in which the participant independently assesses the level of his skills before the course, 
  • request for a business trip on the employee portal, 
  • transfer details, 
  • registration on the NAWA platform confirming the eligibility of the project participant, 
  • registration form of the organising authority.  

Post-mobility documentation  

Persons who end their mobility are obliged to: 

  • completing an electronic post-test, in which the participant independently assesses the level of their skills after the course, 
  • present the original certificate of residence at the partner university.  

Completing the mobility 

Those who complete the mobility will receive a certificate of completion of the course at a specific level/mobility.  

The verification of learning outcomes involves completing a post-test, in which the participant should obtain a higher number of points compared to the pretest in order to obtain a certificate of competence improvement.  Both tests are solved remotely via the Microsoft Forms application.
